Eexhibition in the Town Hall of the sixteenth arrondissement's
Our fiftieth exhibition , like all the FICF's shows, was a great success; and this in spite of being the most difficult to organize. We were spared neither obstacles trap nore difficulties! Even at the last minute the Greek group was obliged to opt out! Which was a pity for the FICF but even more for our Greek friends.
The Town Hall of the sixteenth arrondissement's state hall (a complete renovation finished just 48 hrs before varnishing day) is very handsome, very high class. The Varnishing itself was very brilliant. The Mayor, Pierre-Christian TAITTINGER, surrounded by many Town councillors, opened the show with a warm and friendly speech, recalling the Founder, Madame Perigot de La Tour ' s persistent work. In an aside, he did not forget Marie-Michelle Perigot , who in turn thanked him, remembering that the very young President of the Paris Council, even then, helped the FICF whose aims he had so well understood.
Then, Madame Anca Vlad , Honorary President of the Romanian Group and Erika Sellmann Büsching , President of the German Group, in turn, said a few words in excellent French, which was much appreciated.
Before we all met up in front of a delicious buffet the Mayor awarded four medals to the artists chosen by the Jury. In spite of the buffet, the exhibitors were may to do justice to the dinner which ended a lovely day, and allow them to get to know each other better, and exchange their ideas, their problems…which is one of the aims of the FICF.
On the last day, the Mayor made us a long surprise visit. He was able to revisit the show and talk to the artists, such as Ida Canella , arrived that morning from Milan and Manuela Botis from Romania , who gave him one of her works of art.
The very large German group was taken in hand during all their stay by Lisbeth Lasché who showed them all over Paris and entertained them at home to a succulent dinner.
The Annual General Meeting was held at Ioana' s on the Tuesday, 10 th of October. The Greek and German groups being absent, the elections to the Board did not take place. They have been put off till the spring, when important decisions shall have to be taken.
The Meeting decided to accept the invitation to hold an exhibition in Istanbul (in the wonderful Francophone Lycée which organizes in its exhibition rooms much appreciated events). You have received all the details for this show planned for March.
Lastly, Erika Sellmann Büsching is enthusiastically preparing a large FICF show for 2008; with many thanks, we wish her a lot of courage.
